Warning(?): 9/25 Sync4 update may delete HVAC controls from screen

Hey Gang, saw on one of the FB group that the latest Sync4 update deleted HVAC controls from the screen. I turned off automatic updates until I know it's fixed and the very next day Ford is trying to push the update to me. I just have to decline it every time I start up the Van. Annoying but better than having no HVAC controls. Sounds like the guy could use voice commands via the steering wheel button to operate HVAC. The dealer hooked up a computer but couldn't fix, said something about another update for HVAC and told him he'd have to leave it with them. Haven't seen another update from him yet.

Anyone get this update?

I am turning mine off permanently. A couple years back they deleted the autostop engine lockout.

Yeah this is a different update, nothing to do with the camera. It's a remote push update for sync4 bugs and functionality. Don't know if you got this one too but probably if you haven't turned off auto updates.

Seems the bug is limited as I haven't seen anyone else complain about it, or maybe they already fixed the update that's getting pushed.

When I saw this post, I opted out of automatic updates. A couple of days after, I’m getting a message asking for permission to update. I got burned by the auto stop start debacle 2 years ago so I’m holding off until this gets sorted out.
on a side note, I wonder if the h ac controls are beiges in another menu. It also looks like your map is enlarged which may hide some items on the screen.

This original FB post inspired me to look into my vehicles "privacy" like Im doing with my phone now... GrapheneOS. Vehichle is not trust worthy... Ive be reserching how to neuter it from haveing control/ access to internet. I dont trust it anymore.

I just went into the software update settings and disabled them. Last night. Not sure when the last update I may have gotten was - suspect I never have yet. My HVAC controls are intact.

I went into the settings yesterday and found this. It’s what I’m running now without the update. My ‘23 has had at least one update that I recall but maybe more.

On all my computers, apps, and other devices, I always delay updates by 4 months. It has saved me a lot of grief several times. From years of experience, 4 months has always been safe.

My 2024 is on version 24058_PRODUCT (which I'm sure stands for 'released to production')

After the patch installed.

It seems to work fine.
